The New York Jets have released journeyman kicker Clint Stitser, the team announced.
Stitser was recently signed to a contract to compete with Nick Folk, but struggled during practices.
"That young man [Stitser], I don’t think he’s ready right now," Jets coach Rex Ryan told reporters. "Will he be ready in the future? Maybe so, but right now I don’t think he’s ready. We’ll probably move on."
And so they have.
Folk has had some rough moments in practice sessions, too.
"I feel a little better today than I did the other day," Ryan said. "He made all his kicks and I feel a little better about that."
