The New York Jets announced that they've released running back Mike Goodson on Wednesday with a left team designation.
Goodson failed to report to the Jets' mandatory minicamp, which appears to be the final straw for the organization with him.
When he was acquired prior to the 2013 season, Goodson had a chance to compete for the starting running job. But he was arrested on drug and weapons charges and faced a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Goodson had a low chance of making the roster, given the Jets have six other running backs right now.
