During the first episode of Hard Knocks, the New York Jets' frustration with the lack of progress in the Darrrell Revis talks was on full display.

Following the meeting with Revis' agents, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, general manager Mike Tannenbaum had this to say:

“They haven’t said one thing that I agree with. We’re so freakin’ far apart that I feel like a failure right now. Six months later, we haven’t moved the needle. I just don’t get it. I tried everything…I just wish I had another card to play here,. A one-year deal. A four-year deal. A 10-year deal. In good conscience, we can move on. Maybe we’ll go trade for a corner. In good conscience, why don’t we move on and we’ll try again next year.”

Was Tannenbaum posturing for the cameras or was it genuine?

Hard to say, but league sources have confirmed that there's little to no progress in the Revis negotiations.

Either way, the Jets are talking tough.

“We will not be bullied by anybody,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said. “Nobody, nope. Not in our DNA.”

There was another scene where Ryan was jokingly pining away for Revis as he was making his rounds through the dormitory.

Revis' room was empty, though, and it figures to remain that way for quite a while.
