The New York Jets have hired LSU special-teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey as their new special-teams coordinator.
McGaughey has been at LSU for the past three seasons, reaching the BCS national title game in 2011.
He won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants, coaching there for four seasons as assistant special teams coordinator.
He has previous coaching stints with the Denver Broncos, University of Houston, Kansas City Chiefs and Scottish Claymores in NFL Europe.
He played defensive back and was special-teams captain at Houston and was on the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad for one season after going undrafted.
McGaughey replaces Ben Kotwica, who joined the Washington Redskins' staff.
