The Jets were big enough believers in Calvin Pryor that they made him the top safety selected in the NFL draft at 18th overall.
Well, everything has gone as planned so far. After getting a look at him in the Jets' rookie minicamp, coach Rex Ryan said he's been as good as advertised.
“There’s going to be a lot of jerseys sold with Pryor’s name on the back, because I have a funny feeling he’s going to become one of the more popular Jets as this thing gets going,” Ryan told the Newark Star-Ledger, "Smart, instinctive and is on top of it. It’s rare that it comes easy, and you can see it in there. The way he communicates, just everything. He has really been everything that we’ve wanted and then some."
Keep in mind that Ryan has a tendency to talk up his guys, which partly leads to his reputation as a players' coach.
At the same time, Pryor was a top-rated safety for a reason. He made plenty of big plays at Louisville and will look to continue to do so with the Jets.
