New York Jets team owner Woody Johnson isn't taking this coin toss loss lying down.

In the wake of the New York Giants winning a coin toss conducted by the league office that the Jets and Giants weren't in attendance for, Johnson is angry about the process and the results.

The Giants will host the first game at the teams' shared new stadium with the Jets receiving a national game one day later during the league's opening weekend..

So, Johnson is airing his grievances in the following statement:

"An NFL coin toss has a few fundamental elements that are missing here, most notably the presence of the teams involved. That's how it's always done in the League, whether it's determining the order of the draft or deciding who's going to kick off the game. When the issue of which team would be hosting the first regular season game could not be resolved on the merits, I suggested a coin toss as the fairest way to resolve this issue.

"The League rejected that idea. Then, I was told on Friday that a coin toss had taken place at the League office and that the Jets had lost. We rejected a process in which neither team was present. The League departed from our time-honored tradition and declined the opportunity to set the matter straight with a transparent process."

This may be the most controversial coin toss in recent memory, certainly in the NFL.

And these developments should make for a more interesting owners meetings, at least behind the scenes, next week in Orlando, Fla.

The Jets got the last game at the old Meadowlands anyways. The toss wouldn't have gone differently even if they were there. Woody Johnson is just annoying.

Maybe they thought Indianapolis would be there, decide to call neither heads nor tails, and give the coin to the Jets.

Come on, this was a legitimate coin toss. I just heard Phil Simms say he refereed the toss and Tiki Barber tossed the coin.

It would have been nice if the AFC/NFC conference schedules matched up to where they played each other opening day.

Has there ever been an organization that whined as much as the Jets do?
Why don't you whine about the fact you haven't won a Super Bowl in 42 years.

The header for this should have read "Jets owner angry he owns the Jets." Seriously though. The FIx was definitly in. How else do you explain how quickly they came up with the "Jets to play at homemonday night" solution. You want to tell me they would have done that if teh jets won the supposed coin toss? I hate the jets but Woody is right on this one. Goodell cant be trusted. Rumor has it he had the coin destroyed and disposed of the same way he destroyed the Patriots spygate tapes after the toss.

Another screwup by serial screwup Roger Goodell.

What did he ever do to get this job anyway?

Goodell screwed up handling a situation again? Shocker!

Thrillomania, as much as you say Goodell can't be trusted, he has always been pro-Jets as a former employee. This is true from his stealing the Patriots' 1st round pick for filming from the wrong location to twice looking the other way when the Jets tampered with other teams' players.

Goodell usually botches the handling of league situations and business, so that shouldn't be a surprise. Having representatives of both teams would have resolved any transparency issues. But I do think having both teams play on the opening week is a good idea, even if the order can be questioned.

He's really sporty looking. He gets chicks and the other owners like to be seen with him. He has wonderful neck wear. Really an obvious choice.

He has a bevy of coins that always seem to match his personal agenda; but he's just so darn handsome you can't get mad at him.

I've been trying to get his autograph.
