The New York Jets have released linebacke Bryan Thomas, the club announced, to make room for cornerback Donnie Fletcher.

Thomas was the Jets first-round pick from Alabama-Birmingham in 2002 and has played in 146 games with the Jets.

Fletcher was signed by the Jets this year as an undrafted free agent from Boston College.
