Jets sign Aaron Berry

Aaron Berry served his three-game suspension from the NFL to start the season and then had to wait only one more week than that to find work.

The former Detroit Lions cornerback has hitched on with the New York Jets. Berry gets a two-year contract, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Jets have a desperate need after losing standout performer Darrelle Revis to a torn ACL last week. Berry, who was slated to be a starter for the Lions this season, can add some depth for a team that converted running back Joe McKnight to defensive back.

Detroit cut ties with Berry after two offseason arrests. He was arrested in June on suspicion of DUI and in July he was arrested and charged with pulling a gun on a group of men.

Now, if Berry could help the Jets deal with the loss – for however long – of wide receiver Santonio Holmes, then he’d be a really great addition.
