e’s another kicker in Jets camp.
The New York Jets have signed former Pro Bowl kicker Billy Cundiff, a move intended to create a competition with incumbent kicker Nick Folk.
Cundiff is coming off a rough season where he lost his job with the Ravens and was eventually replaced with the Washington Redskins after he struggled with his accuracy.
Cundiff thrived with the Ravens until missing a chip shot rushed kick in the AFC title game two seasons ago.
Then, he was beaten out by rookie Justin Tucker, who stabilized the position with a strong season where he connected on 30 of 33 kicks.
Cundiff has now been signed by 12 NFL teams, nearly half the league.
Cundiff is a talented, strong-legged kicker, and the Jets are giving him a shot to kickstart his NFL career.
To do so, they cut undrafted rookie kicker Brett Maher to create a roster spot.
