The New York Jets will shop quarterback Tim Tebow at the NFL Combine this week in Indianapolis, says ESPNNewYork.com.
If the Jets cannot find a team willing to trade for Tebow and his $2.6 million base salary this season, then they will likely release the former Heisman Trophy winner when the new league year begins on March 12.
Tebow was acquired by the Jets last season in the hopes of using him in the Wildcat package and in the red zone. But the Jets never really found a role for Tebow other than a personal protector on punts and his production was sparse. Tebow's stock with the Jets plummeted to rock bottom when Coach Rex Ryan chose untested Greg McElroy over him to replace a struggling Mark Sanchez as the starter late in the season.
