Prior to Thursday night's rout of the hapless Kansas City Chiefs, there was a report that Norv Turner would be fired if his San Diego Chargers did not win.

Well, mission accomplished - at least for one week as the Chargers snapped a three-game losing slide and improved their record to 4-4.

The win comes after two embarrassing losses - blowing a 24-0 halftime lead at home against Denver and then losing 7-6 on the road against the lowly Cleveland Browns.

So the soap opera continues in San Diego as Turner escapes peril again - at least until the next time the Chargers underachieve.
