Schiano working to fill out staff Brad Biggs
Former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator John Shoop is in the mix to become the offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According to Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com, Shoop will receive an interview to join Greg Schiano’s staff as the first-year coach struggles to line up potential candidates. Shoop and Ron Turner, who also served recently as the Bears’ offensive coordinator, are in the mix. Bill Lazor, the offensive coordinator at the University of Virginia, interviewed but will remain in Charlottesville, according to cavalierinsider.com.
Shoop spent the previous five seasons as the offensive coordinator at North Carolina, a program that has produced some strong NFL players, including New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks.
Shoop previously served as the quarterbacks coach of the Bucs under Jon Gruden, and he spent time with the Oakland Raiders. Turner was the quarterbacks coach for the Indianapolis Colts this past season.
The Bucs were denied permission to interview Arizona Cardinals wide receivers coach John McNulty and Green Bay Packers tight ends coach Ben McAdoo for the coordinator job. Per Marvez, veteran NFL assistant Jimmy Raye II was hired as a senior offensive assistant, giving Schiano someone on staff with a deep NFL background. That’s probably a good idea because to this point Schiano has added a mix of assistants with NCAA backgrounds.

is terry shea going to be brought in as well??
Mike Martz is out of work.
The last great OC the Bears had was probably Ed Hughes, but I'm pretty sure he's no longer above ground.
