The Browns' brass may want Johnny Manziel to tone it down a little bit.
Good luck with that. The rookie quarterback told reporters that by the time Week 1 rolls around, he "absolutely" expects to start.
"I want to play. That's what anybody wants to do. Anybody that's been a starter in the past, and been playing, they want to play," Manziel said, via NFL.com. "To say I don't want to be the starter, that would be ridiculous. I absolutely want to start, that's my goal. Hopefully I can achieve that."
Manziel will have to beat out Brian Hoyer to do so. Hoyer had a good showing when he appeared in three games a season ago. But Manziel is a different type of athlete with a special skill said. That said, the Browns may not want to reward Manziel if they're unhappy with how his offseason as gone.
But if he proves he's the best player in training camp, the Browns will have no choice but to play him.
