The momentum from Saturday's scrimmage has continued for Johnny Manziel.
At Cleveland's practice on Monday, Manziel took the majority of the first-team reps, according to a report from ESPN. Manziel put in a solid performance during Saturday's scrimmage that caused at least one reporter to determine that Manziel has closed the gap with Brian Hoyer.
As Manziel partied it up during the offseason, Browns officials continued to leak out reports that Hoyer was the definite starter and that they'd wish Manziel would cool his act a bit. But Manziel's on-field talent can't be denied apparently as he's getting a legitimate chance to assume the starting role.
The Browns feel confident in Manziel enough, at least at this time, to sacrifice first-team reps for Hoyer.
If this trend continues in ensuing practices, Manziel could wind up Cleveland's starter in Week 1. And that would be what everyone though would take place when he was drafted in the first round this past May.
