The Theo Riddick train is beginning to take off.
Recently, Lions backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky hopped on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast and stated that the shifty running back would have 50 receptions this season. Now it's fellow running back Joique Bell publicy stating how great Riddick has been this preseason.
"You see his route running from out the backfield, it's really crisp," Bell told The Detroit Free Press. "He looks like a Reggie [Bush]. Just some of the moves you see him do in practice against some of the linebackers. We sit back in the meeting room, we sit back we laugh. He gets them every time with the same move, like you can't stop it. You can't stop it."
Riddick could see some time in what appears to be a crowded backfield with Bush, Bell and even Mikel Leshoure, who appeared convinced he was going to see more playing time earlier this offseason. But with offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi coming to Detroit from New Orleans, it appears Riddick has been penciled in to work in the role that Darren Sproles had with the Saints.
Bell is a believer in Riddick, who has developed some buzz of late.
"He keeps doing what he's been doing, he'll be a Pro Bowler in no time," Bell said. "I was thinking down the line, but he definitely has the potential to be a great running back in this league."
