Maurice Jones-Drew has played only 19 snaps in two preseason games for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
But that appears to be enough for Jones-Drew and the Jaguars to feel confident that the running back is ready for the regular season opener Sept. 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jones-Drew missed most of last year with a foot injury, and probably won't play when the Jags face the Atlanta Falcons in the preseason finale.
I feel comfortable,” Jones-Drew told the Florida Times-Union. “I think they do as well. These next two weeks, I’ll keep working on cardio and getting my speed back.”
Without Jones-Drew, the Jaguars bottomed out last year, finishing 2-14. A healthy MJD would be a nice first step toward new head coach Gus Bradley getting his rebuilding program going in the right direction.
