The Minnesota Vikings intend to start newcomer quarterback Josh Freeman on Monday night against the winless New York Giants.
The Vikings signed Freeman to a one-year, $2 million contract after he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he and coach Greg Schiano repeatedly clashed.
The Vikings lost to the Carolina Panthers last Sunday, scoring just 10 points as Matt Cassel passed for 241 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
A former first-round draft pick from Kansas State, Freeman pased for 27 touchdowns and 4,065 yards last season before falling out of favor this year.
