You might be hard pressed to find two people who have less in common than Gene Simmons and Tim Tebow.
But the bassist for the legendary group KISS, which now owns an Arena Football League team in Los Angeles, has reached out and offered Tebow a three-year conract if he will sign with the club.
“Acquiring Tebow would not only be a great investment for the team, but his exciting style of play would definitely send shockwaves through the League,” Simmons said in a press release quoted in the New York Daily News. “We’re excited for the opportunity to see him with an LA KISS uniform on, and for the LA KISS fans to be rockin’ their Tebow shirts and jerseys.”
Tebow was released by the New England Patriots in final cuts just before the season opened, leading to speculation as to what his football future might be.
Earlier the Philadelphia Soul of the AFL offered Tebow the chance to play as well.
While Simmons and fellow KISS member Paul Stanley, who have been among rock and roll's greatest self-promoters, would, in part, want Tebow from a marketing standpoint, there are areas where the AFL might help Tebow as a quarterback.
The league is about quarterbacks throwing into tight windows and needing to be accurate, something Tebow will have to improve upon if he is ever to be a successful NFL quarterback.
