Kellen Clemens back in fold with Rams

Jeff Fisher says the plan is for Austin Davis to be his backup quarterback this season.

But nothing is set at this point and the Rams added a more experienced option to the mix when Kellen Clemens agreed to a one-year contract Monday night, according to Mike Garafolo of USA Today. Clemens was the No. 2 behind Sam Bradford last season and spent part of the 2011 season with the Rams, making three starts.

The 29-year-old Clemens will challenge for a roster spot but Fisher seems intent on giving Davis, an undrafted rookie free agent from Southern Miss a year ago, a shot at nailing down that role. The Rams very likely could carry three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. Davis showed well in preseason last year but did not appear in a regular season game.
