Kelly says he is cancer free

Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly says he is cancer-free following surgery June 7 to remove part of the left side of his jaw, per the team's website.

“I found out great news on Wednesday,” Kelly said Monday at the opening of his annual Jim Kelly Football Camp. “I don’t have to go through radiation treatment and chemo, which is a blessing. From what I’ve been told everything that they did in surgery, if I had to do radiation or chemo it would put me way back.”

Kelly thanked people for their prayers, and said he will still have to check in with doctors for follow-up examinations every couple of months to make sure the cancer does not return.
