Safety made use of his time down, winning appeal Brad Biggs
Kenny Phillips has not played in the last six games as he sprained an MCL in Week 4 and has been slow to recover.
But he did make productive use of his down time. Phillips appealed a $30,000 fine for a hit on Tampa Bay wide receiver Vincent Jackson and said he was successful, according to Jorge Castillo of the Newark Star-Ledger. It’s not often that players appeal and win but Phillips apparently pulled it off, keeping the money in his wallet.
More importantly, the veteran safety is expected to return to the lineup Sunday night when the Giants host the Green Bay Packers at MetLife Stadium. Phillips will have to watch himself though. He said he was fined on three separate occasions last season.
"I definitely try to be as physical as possible when I get the opportunity because you don't get (many)," Phillips said. "I definitely try to take advantage of that."
