NFLPA president still unemployed Aaron Wilson
Former Tennessee Titans center Kevin Mawae, the NFL PLayers Association president, remains skeptical about NFL owners' proposal to expand the regular season to 18 games.
If the players are going to play extra games, they're going to want extra play.
"You want two extra games at the back end of the season?" Mawae told ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike program. "What's in it for us? It's a little bit more complicated than just saying let's swap out two games from the preseason and add two games at the end of the regular season. There's health and safety issues, which is our biggest concern from a player's standpoint."
It's yet another issue on the bargaining table as the negotiations over a new collective bargaining agreement plays out in a very public manner.
Meanwhile, Mawae, 39, remains unemployed after starting every game for the Titans last season.
Does he still expect to land a job?
"It comes out like Kevin Mawae is whining, crazy, washed up and trying to hang on," Mawae said. "But there's going to be some team in the middle of the season that needs me more than I need them."
