Ravens cornerback coming off torn ACL last season Aaron Wilson
OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb is unlikely to play Thursday night against the St. Louis Rams, according to coach John Harbaugh.
Webb has been activated from the physically unable to perform list after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament last season.
“I don’t anticipate him playing in this game,” Harbaugh said. “We don’t want to risk a setback.”
The Ravens are taking a cautious approach with Webb, who injured his knee last December against the Chicago Bears.
Webb went through warmup drills prior to Saturday night's game against the New York Giants.
“I think everybody needs as many snaps as they can get, but you have to balance it with the risk of injury,” Harbaugh said. “We wanted to get him a good, hard pregame workout as part of his rehab. We’ll probably do the same thing before the Rams game."
Webb started four games last season as a rookie after being drafted in the third round.
Webb has looked fluid in practice during individual drills, running and cutting. He didn't specify when he thinks he'll be able to play.
“It’s up to them, so I’m going to leave it up to them, me, and how my body feels,” Webb said. “When it’s ready, l’ll be back out, because I’m excited. It's coming along well, just keep getting it stronger and stronger."
Webb was thrilled even to run around the field Saturday night knowing he wasn't going to play.
“It was exciting to come out with my defensive backs,” said Webb. “We usually take a lap, so it was fun to take a lap."
