The latest incarnation of the Over The Hill Gang by the Washington Redskins is less one 35-year-old.

News broke Wednesday that Brandon Stokley would be reuniting with coach Mike Shanahan when the Redskins went on a shopping spree for older receivers, signing Donte Stallworth and trading for Jabar Gaffney.

Well, Stokley is out of the mix now. His agent Rick Smith said via his Twitter account that he spoke too soon yesterday.

Brandon Stokley won't sign with Redskins,” Smith wrote on Twitter. “Too many WR's signed.”

Now, Stokley is looking for work again. He was productive in Seattle last season, making 31 receptions for 354 yards in 11 games. Teams in need of a slot receiver will surely consider him.

Who knows? Maybe Shanahan still has a phone number for Rod Smith.
