Lawrence Tynes was hopping mad, literally.
The New York Giants kicker was on crutches Saturday night with a thigh bruise that will require an MRI today.
Carolina Panthers linebacker Sean Ware fell into Tynes’ left plant leg while blocking a field goal in the fourth quarter at Bank of America Stadium. Tynes was furious there was no penalty on the play.
“Where was the flag?" he said, according to the New York Post. "What happened to the defenseless player (emphasis)? I don't care if you tip the ball, you still shouldn't be able to hit a kicker when he still has his plant foot on the ground.
“I don't understand where the hell the rule is, because I was the epitome of a defenseless player. I guess we'll find out soon enough. I'm sure I'm talking out of school, but whatever.”
When he says we’ll find out soon enough, Tynes surely means it will be interesting to see if the NFL comes down on Ware with a fine.
Per the report, his knee is not injured. But it is possible the Giants will need a replacement kicker, at least for the short term.
