Lions bring CB Chris Houston back

The Detroit Lions took care of one issue in their secondary when cornerback Chris Houston agreed to a new contract this morning.

Houston was part of a large crop of experienced cornerbacks on the market but the Lions wound up getting the player they know best as he’s agreed to terms and will sign the new deal tonight or Thursday.

I’m just happy that I have a home, a place to go and finish out my career,” Houston told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “I’m excited that it’s all over. I’ve been through free agency before and it was crazy that time and it was crazy this time also.”

Houston was a free agent last when the lockout ended in July 2011, a compressed period where deals were done quickly. This time, it had to be a little different just because so many experienced and highly paid (at least before) cornerbacks were in the marketplace.
