Jeff Backus, Mikel Leshoure injured Brad Biggs
The Detroit Lions had a rough second day on the practice field.
Left tackle Jeff Backus and running back Mikel Leshoure both left with injuries and there is a possibility that Backus suffered a fractured thumb.
Lions coach Jim Schwartz did not rule out the possibility that Backus had suffered a “long-term” injury. Leshoure, meanwhile, suffered a hamstring injury, according to Anwar Richardson of MLive.com.
“(Backus) hurt his thumb in one-on-one," Schwartz said, per the report. "Went in and got x-rays. Didn't return to practice. We're going to wait and see what those looks like. It wasn't real determinate right away, but there's some findings on there, so we'll look at it later this afternoon.
"We'll see what comes of it. If it's something long-term, we'll let you know."
Backus has started in 177 consecutive games for the Lions. Leshoure missed his entire rookie season a year ago with an Achilles tendon injury. He is considered day-to-day.
