Lions part ways with TE Tony Scheffler

The Lions announced that they've released veteran tight end Tony Scheffler on Tuesday.

Scheffler has been injured with a concussion, sustained earlier this season against Green Bay. However, the emergence of tight end Joseph Fauria has been a bit of a surprise, and likely made Scheffler expendable.

It's also concerning for Scheffler in that this concussion adds to previous ones in recent years.

Taking Scheffler's place on the Lions roster is offensive tackle Barry Richardson.
