MacIntyre lands at Colorado

As first reported by Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated, Colorado has selected Mike MacIntyre to be its next head coach.

MacIntyre, who inherited a San Jose State program that resembled an FCS squad because of academic woes, takes over a Buffaloes team that was dreadful the last two seasons under Jon Embree, who couldn't rebuild the program after Dan Hawkins was dismissed.

Colorado was unable to land former Cincinnati head coach Butch Jones, who eventually left for Tennessee. So the program turned to the 47-year-old MacIntyre, who led San Jose State to a 10-2 mark in 2012 and a spot in the Military Bowl. He was able to do a strong job recruiting the West Coast during his SJSU tenure, so that should help restock the cupboard in Boulder.

Colorado last had a winning season in 2005 under Gary Barnett.
