Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Marcus Easley could be lost for the season with a knee injury.
Bills coach Chan Gailey didn't offer specifics on the injury, but a final decision on the fourth-round draft pick's status is expected to happen as soon as Wednesday.
Gailey didn't rule out that Easley, a promising prospect from Connecticut, could be out for the season.
"We’re in the process of making the final decision here in the next day or so about what direction that thing’s going to go, but I would say longer rather than shorter," Gailey said in remarks distributed by the team.
When asked if the injury will rule Easley out for the year, Gailey replied: "Maybe, I don’t know. I don’t know. I have to wait and see. Let me get the final say-so on that."
Signed to a four-year deal with a total base value of roughly $2.31 million that includes a signing bonus of almost $520,000, Easley was elected 107th overall and is first wide receiver from his school to be drafted.
The 6-foot-2, 207-pounder led the Huskies with 48 receptions for 893 yards and eight touchdowns last season after catching only five passes during his previous two seasons.
He was named second-team All-Big East Conference.
For his career, Easley finished with 53 receptions for 997 yards.
