Every undrafted NFL player has a story of an obstacle to overcome in pursuit of their dream.
Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich is no exception. The former ACC defensive player of the year has overcome bone cancer. While he expected – and hoped – to be drafted in April, he wasn’t. Now, Herzlich has a new team. He’s going to sign with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent. He announced the news on his Twitter account this morning.
It’ll be a feel-good story if Herzlich can stick in the NFL. Giants coach Tom Coughlin is obviously a former head coach at Boston College. It will be a better story if he remains healthy moving forward. Herzlich had a list of teams he was considering, including the San Francisco 49ers.
