Marv Albert has been hired as a play-by-play announcer for CBS’s coverage of the NFL.

The broadcaster, who is most well known for his NBA work, will transition from the radio booth where he handled “Monday Night Football” responsibilities from 2002 to 2009 for Westwood One.

“Marv Albert is recognized throughout sports broadcasting as one of its true legends,” CBS chairman Sean McManus said in a statement. “Very few in the broadcasting industry can claim his combined accomplishments and remarkable longevity. We are extremely excited to add Marv to our NFL ON CBS team.”

Albert will also work for CBS and Turner Sports covering the NCAA Tournament.

Wondering if Albert will still do NBA work for TNT? To borrow from Albert, “Yes!”

Albert replaces Gus Johnson, who departed CBS earlier.
