The Cincinnati Bengals made it official, signing free agent quarterback Jason Campbell.

The deal reunites Campbell with Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, his head coach when he started for the Oakland Raiders.

Campbell has also played for the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins.

In eight starts last season, Campbell passed for 2,015 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He has 16,697 career passing yards, 87 touchdowns, 60 interceptions and an 81.8 passer rating. He was released by Cleveland last week.

“Jason obviously has extensive playing and starting history, and as a backup he can provide the stability and experience we’re looking for in that role," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "His experience will be a great asset to our other quarterbacks.

“He can play and win games for you if you need him. He’s got great stature and strength, the ability to stand in there under pressure and really throw the ball down the field.”
