Running back on field for first time since breaking collarbone. Terry McCormick
Running back Ryan Mathews was back on the practice field on Thursday for the San Diego Chargers, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune beat writer Michael Gehlken.
It marks the first time since breaking his collarbone five weeks that Mathews has been able to take the practice field. His status for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans is still in question.
Union-Tribune beat writer Kevin Acee also reports that tight end Antonio Gates missed his second straight day with a rib injury, though he is likely to practice on Friday and play Sunday.
