Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt Schaub struggled in his debut with his new football team.
He completed just 3 of 7 passes for 21 yards. The Raiders went three-and-out in all three of his series during a 10-6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Schaub was awful last season for the Houston Texans.
"We went out and we didn’t play near to expectations or our standard and we need to go back and figure out how to play that way next week," Schaub said.
Schaub played into the second quarter during the Raiders' sloppy performance that included 13 penalties for 94 yards.
“I’m disappointed in the way that we played,” Raiders coach Dennis Allen said. “I thought we’d come out and be sharper than that and execute better than that. The penalties really were the big story of the game.”
Schaub was bad with the Texans. Meanwhile, rookie Derek Carr threw an interception and completed 10 of 16 passes for 74 yards.
Schaub wasn't sharp, though.
“I thought he was put in some tough situations,” Allen said. "We had a mistake on the first third down of the game which turned out to be an incompletion. We’ve got to execute better and put ourselves in more manageable situations. ... I thought overall the execution wasn’t good enough.”
