Former University of Tennessee QB is son of Giants great Phil Simms. Terry McCormick
Matt Simms has agreed to a rookie deal as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
Simms is the son of former New York Giants star quarterback Phil Simms and the brother of Chris Simms, who played for Tampa Bay, Denver and Tennessee and now is an entry-level coach on Bill Belichick's staff in New England.
Matt Simms played at the University of Tennessee after coming to Knoxville from the JUCO ranks. He spent time in his junior season as the Vols starting quarterback before being eventually supplanted by freshman Tyler Bray. He made two starts in 2011 after Bray was injured.
