Orton, Tebow and Quinn are the three quarterbacks on the roster Aaron Wilson
The Denver Broncos might only have two quarterbacks active on gamedays.
Why?
According to Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, having three quarterbacks could "put us behind the eight ball at other spots."
That likely means that either Brady Quinn or rookie Tim Tebow will be inactive with Kyle Orton currently expected to hold onto his starting job.
It will be considered a surprise if Tebow is deactivated.
“He has certainly made some progress with what we are asking of him, and we are not asking him to change and be like everybody else," McDaniels said in remarks distributed by the team. "There’s a few things we work on with all the quarterbacks to try and get them to do a few things better and he is really working hard at trying to make that a part of his game.
"He’s made progress in a lot of areas, but again there’s a lot of things going on out there right now and he needs to learn from his mistakes and improve. There are a lot of areas that that needs to happen in. We will see how everything works out, but we are happy to have him on our football team and he is going to compete to try and contribute in some way. We will see how it all shakes out.”
Tebow threw two interceptions during a generally rough practice Friday.
“I think I am consistently improving," Tebow said. "I have a long way to go. I have a lot of mistakes and a lot of things I have to correct.”
