McLendon staying in Pittsburgh

Restricted free agent nose tackle Steve McLendon was drawing some interest from the Green Bay Packers, but in the end, the three-year veteran got what he was looking for from his current organization.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Steelers and McLendon have come to an agreement on a three-year deal worth $7.25 million with $1.675 million guaranteed.

The 27-year-old from Troy visited the Packers on Wednesday, which apparently was enough to motivate the Steelers to come up with an offer that would prevent one of their younger defenders from bolting town. As a restricted free agent, McLendon was tendered at the lowest possible level ($1.3 million) by Pittsburgh this offseason.

The 6-4, 280-pounder is coming off a career year in which he appeared in all 16 games for the Black & Yellow, recording 2.0 sacks and one forced fumble.
