At least Trent Williams gets to keep his Pro Bowl jersey and the NFL says he’ll be credited for being a Pro Bowler this season too.
But the Washington Redskins left tackle will not play in Sunday’s all-star game after he was struck in the head with a champagne bottle and Tasered early Friday at a nightclub in Honolulu. Police are investigating the situation but Williams, a first-time Pro Bowl selection, is considered a victim and not a suspect.
According to the Washington Post, Williams required seven stitches following the incident and Matt Kalil of the Minnesota Vikings has been selected as a replacement.
The 6-5, 325-pound Williams was one of three men injured in the melee. One male has been arrested and police continue to investigate. Williams was suspended for the final four games of the 2011 season for marijuana use. He played through a series of injuries this season at a high level.
