Mendenhall says knee 'has healed wonderfully'

The timing of Rashard Mendenhall's knee injury at the end of the 2011 regular season did not bode well for his chances to be ready in time for this season.

But Mendenhall has maintained that he would be recovered from his torn ACL in time to play in week 1. He apparently has taken another step toward his goal, tweeting that his knee "has healed wonderfully."

Just how "wonderfully" will be up in part to the Steelers team doctors and trainers to determine, but Mendenhall's prediction does remain alive.
