Michael Sam runs a 4.91 40-yard dash

Missouri defensive end Michael Sam ran an official 4.91 40-yard dash at the NFL combine on Monday.

Sam is considered a tweener for now, as he's either going to be a 4-3 defensive end or a 3-4 outside linebacker. His size could force him into the outside linebacker role, which would primarily make him a pass rusher.

That's something he does well, though. In 2013, he had 11.5 sacks en route to being named the SEC's co-defensive player of the year.

Sam has had a fairly average combine, though he's still projected to be a mid-round prospect. Sam, who revealed that he's gay before the combine told reporters that no team he interviewed with has questioned him about his sexual orientation.
