The sexual assault investigation surrounding Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is a very serious matter.

His freedom, reputation and NFL career are all at stake.

So, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is understandably worried about the situation.

"I'm highly concerned for our franchise and for Ben personally," Tomlin told the NFL Network.

Per the report, Tomlin wasn't inclined to being expansive on his remarks since it's a legal matter.

Roethlisberger has been accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old female in Milledgeville, Ga.

"My concerns are many, but I think at this time it's kind of appropriate to watch these things and let these things run their course," Tomlin said. "I think it would be inappropriate for me to have strong feelings one way or another with the investigation being ongoing and so forth. Like everyone else, you watch these things unfold."

Roethlisberger hasn't been charged with a crime and his high-profile lawyer, Ed Garland, has stated that his client hasn't committed a criminal act.

Roethlisberger has reportedly acknowledged to team officials that he had a consensual sexual encounter with the woman, but didn't have intercourse with her, according to a KDKA television report.

You can bet that the coach knows more about this than you or I do, so when Tomlin starts shaking his head,..... look out Ben.

It appears that Big ben (pun included) got a bj in the head. Why doesn't this guy use his other head. he has the $$$$ to rent a room and a job that would get him many women. He has to understand the way the world is now.

They actually thought Bradshaw was dumb. Ben is just used to special treatment, but times have changed. Of course winning changes alot of attitudes.

I hope ben learns from this

He can hire the best lawyer he can to drag this coed through the mud and make her out to be a slut, but why do these things happen to Ben and not other franchise QBs? This is a proud franchise and that thinks a great deal about its reputation. For the sake of the women of the world, I hope this guy wakes up and sincerely changes.

I grew up watching Bradshaw & the Steel Curtain. It created great pride within me that these men worked hard together and proved over & over again what a great team & it's leader could do. For the past 40 years I have held my head high when I said I am a Pittsburgh Steeler fan.

Coach Tomlin...you are a great coach. You're doing a very good job. A while ago, Joey Porter called out Roethlisburger in the locker room, telling him that he was not the "Team's" leader. The article stated that he just said what most of the team thought about Roethlisburger. He's right. I believed in Big Ben. For a long time. Just not any more. He does not represent the kind of man I want to support for my Steelers.

As a woman, as a dedicated Pittsburgh Steeler fan, I take offense to the disgusting perspective that Roethlisberger spewed toward women as quoted from the recent police report. It was good to see that we picked up a new QB from Penn State. As a PSU Alumni, we all know Jo-Pa wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior. Great job!
