NFL denies Broncos' appeal on Dumervil

The NFL has denied the Denver Broncos' appeal to the league in a last-ditch attempt to keep defensive end Elvis Dumervil, according to ESPN.com.

Dumervil became a free agent last Friday when the paperwork on an agreed pay cut was not faxed back to the team in time. The Broncos had argued that since the deal had been agreed to, that they should have been allowed to keep Dumervil.

Not surprisingly, the league denied that, not wanting to open that can of worms regarding verbal agreements and intent.

Dumervil changed agents following the incident, and is now represented by CAA's Tom Condon and Ben Dogra. There is still a chance that Dumervil could re-sign with the Broncos.
