NFL levies combined $72,000 in fines to Patriots, Jets

It was an expensive brawl between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets last week.

Players were fined over $72,000 for the incident.

New York Jets offensive guard was fined a total of $34,124, $26,250 for making physical contact with an official and $7,875 for punching a Patriot while offensive tackle D'Brickashaw Ferfuson was fined $15,000 for throwing a punch of his own.

For the Patriots, defensive tackle Vince Wilfork, cornerbakc Alfonzo Dennard and defensive end Michael Buchanan were fined $7,875 apiece for unnecessary roughness as part of the altercation with defensive ned Chandler Jones fined $15,750 for his hit on Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith.
