As the NFL Players Association announced a unanimous re-election of president Kevin Mawae today at their annual player representative meeting in Hawaii attended by over 100 players, the players union also elected several new executive committee members.
The NFLPA announced that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, Cleveland Browns linebacker Scott Fujita, free agent special-teams ace Sean Morey and Kansas City offensive guard Brian Waters were elected to the executive committee.
Between them, they have 15 years of experience as player reps.
Six incumbents remain on the committee: New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Denver Broncos safety Brian Dawkins, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth, New York Jets fullback Tony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts center Jeff Saturday and Kansas City Chiefs outside linebacker Mike Vrabel.
"A leader is only as good as those around him," Mawae said. "With the executive committee, the bbard of representatives and [Executive Director] De[Maurice] Smith, I believe we will continue to strengthen the NFLPA's position as the strongest sports union in the country."
