APNew Lions LB Julian Peterson
For a guy who made five Pro Bowls in nine seasons with Seattle and San Francisco, it wouldn't seem as though Lions linebacker Julian Peterson should know much about adversity. But for five of those seasons, his teams had losing records and it taught him plenty.
Peterson, who was acquired in a trade with the Seahawks earlier this year, said adversity helps forge better players and isn't shy about discussing last season's 0-16 disaster.
"A real man comes out through adversity," he said. "I think this is the biggest adversity for anybody. For a team going 0-16, nobody's talked about it, but it's a big challenge for a lot of us. I think everybody has stepped up to the plate, want to improve, want to get back to the playoffs."
