i think a quiet team is a very dangerous team, i feel like we have alot of players are mad about last year and that breeds mental toughness, you add competition at all the most important positions and you have a team that will be relentless. if you put it together you have a relentless team that is mentally tough team that will be relentless thats exactly what you need to win a championship. the third and most important part is to stay healthy if all 3 of those things come together in my opion i think we can do it, go all the way i really think we need to get that 4th superbowl championship soon to take another step towards greatness. love all my giant fans lets go baby

Very disappointing end to the season. However, I think you see less changes than people imagine. First thought, for week 17, I'd want to win the game if I were the Giants, but won't be too upset if they lose and get a high pick. Also, I'd IR a few of the guys who have no shot at playing (Jacobs, McKenzie, at a minimum), and maybe sign a few practice squad guys they've liked. Personally, I'd look to Sha'reff Rashad on their practice squad, and Maurice Evans, the DE they cut at the end of training camp from Penn State that is now with Tampa on their practice squad. Could be a nice, under-the-radar move to help somewhere next year. As for the offseason: First, Sheridan needs to go. That goes without saying. Following guys contracts not renewed/non-tendered/cut: Robbins, Clark, Dockery, Ware, Moss, Darcy Johnson, Whimper, McKenzie, Bernard, Tollefson, Brown (maybe the most obvious), Feagles Up in the air on/Depends on pricing: Cofield, Hixon (Special Teams guy, not receiver), AP, Hagan, Carr Draft/FA needs: ILB, Guard/Center, DT I mainly like to build through the draft, and this past year's FA group really wasn't all that spectacular, but a few vets to sprinkle in will certainly help, especially to provide leadership to the younger guys. However, I'd prefer guys who are capable players, not just locker room voices, which is why Darren Sharper (a popular FA name) scares me, he will be 35 next year. Also, with the looming labor issues, it may look beneficial to overpay for the year, but this will definitely hurt in the long run.

At the beginning of the season Bill Sheridan promised that there would be no zone blitzes where you'd have Osi and Tuck dropping in coverage to cover receivers, TEs, and RBs. And yet that's exactly what we have, Osi and Tuck dropping into coverage. Is it any wonder our sack total isn't what it should be?

I'm really at a loss at what is ailing this team right now. The have been mediocre at best at all phases of the game the last few weeks. I don't think the plays called on offense have been bad, but the timing is very suspect. There are times to take shots down the field in the hopes of a big play. It seems as if we are allowing the defense to dictate what we do on offense, rather than play to our strengths, namely power running and play-action. I think our offensive line has been subpar so far, especially in run blocking. When we don't run the ball often enough, the play-action pass does not fool anyone. Defensively, the line has underperformed, the 'backers are too slow, and the safeties have been horrible in coverage. Losing Kenny Phillips was devastating. CC Brown has been consistently bad, and it was noticeable in the preseason. Veteran presence is meaningless if you don't know/understand the defense, and can't make plays on the ball. I would much rather have an athlete, maybe Sha'reff Rashad from the practice squad, who might be able to make plays but would need help with the nuances of the D. We made it to the Super Bowl with a 7th rounder playing significant time at safety because he was athletic. A pass defensed here or there could change the entire season. But the last player who could stop a touchdown is our most obvious weakness on our defense. If I can see that, I can guarantee every coach in the NFL can recognize that. And so far they have. Here's to hoping the bye week can refresh and refocus our team.

With our passing game struggling to make plays, I don't understand Gilbride's reluctance to call more wide receiver and running back screens. The Giants were able to score successfully on a quick screen to Manningham in week one, scored on one against the Chiefs with Nicks, and were able to get a big play from Bradshaw against Oakland on third and long. The Giants offensive line is not very big, but they are all young and athletic, and with the passing offense now revolving around quick small recievers who should upgrade the Giants ability to improve their YAC, why do you think we haven't seen more of these quick screen plays?
