The Baltimore Ravens have Joe Flacco's contract situation at the top of their off-season priority list, and apparently far above that of any other potential free agent on the roster.
General manager Ozzie Newsome said via the team website that the franchise tag would only be used on Flacco, and would not be placed on any other Ravens player even if the club reaches an extension with the quarterback, freeing the tag to be placed on another player.
The Ravens have plenty of free agents on defense that were vital pieces their Super Bowl success, including safety Ed Reed, defensive lineman Paul Kruger, linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and cornerback Cary Williams.
"We get a deal done with Joe, we will not franchise another player," General Manager Ozzie Newsome said. "We will not do that."
Newsome then asked Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti "You are OK with that, right?"
To which Bisciotti replied, "Absolutely."
