Former Falcons quarterback being recruited by UFL team Aaron Wilson
The Omaha Nighthawks have invited former Atlanta Falcons quarterback D.J. Shockley to attend their minicamp, and he's confirmed he'll attend.
Shockley isn't listed on the Nighthawks' roster.
"I just got off the phone with D.J. and he's all set," Nighthawks football operations executive Ken Stills said. "He's a great character guy. We're very excited about having D.J. aboard."
Shockley was recently released by the Falcons.
Shockley was cut by the Falcons last season, but was signed to their practice squad. After the season, he was signed a reserve/future contract.
Drafted in the seventh round out of the University of Georgia in the 2006 NFL draft, Shockley was out for the entire 2007 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral damage.
At the time, he was contending for a starting job.
In 2005 at Georgia, Shockley passed for 2,588 yards, 24 touchdowns and five interceptions. He rushed for 322 yards and four touchdowns.
