No surprise: Robert Griffin III to start opener

In a development that doesn't come as a surprise considering the progress he's made from knee surgery, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is set to start the opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN.

Griffin hasn't had any problems with his knee since undergoing surgery after last season.

The quarterback will meet with his surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, Thursday before gaining final medical clearance.

Per the report, this is just a recheck to confirm what Andrews already thinks of the knee.

"I would say I'm 100 percent, but you can't put a number on it," Griffin told Washington reporters earlier this week. "No one ever knows when they are 100 percent or what percentage they're playing at. The biggest thing is, I'm not below 100 percent."
